Noble Larry R. Rike Named Shriner of the Month

Wednesday, January 15, 2014

Noble Larry R. Rike of Antioch Shriners in Dayton, Ohio, has been named the first-ever Shriner of the Month. The new award program, developed by the leadership of Shriners International, recognizes those nobles who demonstrate an extraordinary commitment to both the fraternity and its philanthropy, Shriners Hospitals for Children®. Personal displays of leadership, especially by example, and consistent participation in temple activities and efforts, and/or support of the health care system, all contribute to consideration for the award.

A Commitment to Membership

Noble Rike, of Lewisburg, Ohio, became a Shriner in 1974. For nearly 40 years, Rike has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to furthering the fraternity’s membership goals. Rike sponsors approximately six to 10 new nobles every year, and consistently ranks among the top nobles in his temple for signing new members.

A Dedicated Shriner

In addition to his passion for new member recruitment, Rike is active in his temple’s many units. He participates in the Mounted Patrol Palomino and Antioch Parade Escort units, NASCAR mini-cup cars and El Ameen Club, where he serves as president. Currently serving his fourth year as Parade Marshal, he was also the Marshal for the Great Lakes Shrine Association in 2013. Rike is also the recipient of many temple awards, including Man of the Year and the Red Jacket Award, which recognized his circus ad sales successes.

For Noble Rike, being a member of the Shriners fraternity is a way of life. Not only has he worked whole-heartedly to further his temple’s membership goals, he has also consistently dedicated his time to raise awareness of Shriners Hospitals for Children.

“Noble Rike embodies the true meaning behind the Shriner of the Month Award,” said Shriners International Executive Vice President and Imperial Recorder Jack H. Jones. “We are honored to have such a remarkable member in our fraternity.”

Congratulations to Noble Rike for his achievements and for being chosen Shriner of the Month.
